Linux Professional Institute (LPI), offers a variety certification options for those who are interested in open-source technologies. The LPIC-2: Linux Network Professional Certificate is designed to provide advanced skills for Linux professionals that are common across all Linux distributions. The LPIC-2 certification qualifies candidates for roles such as systems administrator, senior systems integration engineer, or networking engineer.
LPIC-2 – Linux Network Professional Certification (LPIC-2). The LPIC-2 – Linux Network Professional Certification is an advanced Linux certification that enables learners to:
Manage a small- or medium-sized website
Plan, implement, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot small mixed (MS, Linux), networks.
Supervise assistants
Management should be advised about automation and purchasing.
The LPIC-1 certification, which is an advanced Linux certification is a prerequisite for the LPIC-2. The certifications can be taken in any order. The LPIC-2 exam is composed of two tests, both of which can be covered by SPOTO training.

Typically, learners who are pursuing the LPIC-2 certification should have 1-3 years’ experience in IT, a basic understanding of networking, as well as experience using the Linux command line. LPI considers LPIC-2 an advanced Linux certification. Others consider it an entry-level certification. Before pursuing LPIC-2 certification, learners should have experience working with Linux and other open-source technologies.
Exam DetailsIn most cases, learners who are interested in the LPIC-2 exam start by creating an LPI ID and purchasing a coupon before registering for it. RecertificationLPI certificates are valid for five (5) year. Learners can recertify by passing any exams that they have passed, or upgrading to the next level of certification before their certification expires.
The Next StepLinux Essentials certificate is an entry-level certification that allows learners to expand their Linux skills and diversify their resumes. The following options are available to learners who have earned the Linux Essentials certificate:
LPIC-3 (composed of three exams: Exam 300 and Exam 303 and Exam 304)
Docker (formal certification not yet available, but is expected to be soon!) To be eligible for certification, complete Shawn Powers’ Docker course!
Ubuntu (like Docker) does not have a formal certification, but it is a great training tool for real-world applications and skill expansion. To improve your skills, take Shawn Powers’ course Ubuntu.
